What we collect
When you subscribe to aurora alerts, we collect: your email address, your chosen city, your Kp and cloud cover thresholds, and your IP address (used only for rate limiting, not stored beyond the request).
How we use it
Your email is used solely to send aurora alert notifications for the city you subscribed to. We never sell, share, or use your data for advertising. We do not build profiles or track behavior across the site.
How long we keep it
We retain your subscription data until you unsubscribe. Every alert email contains an unsubscribe link — one click removes all your data immediately.
Data processors
Email delivery is handled by Resend (resend.com). Hosting and database are provided by Vercel (vercel.com). Both are GDPR-compliant processors operating under standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete the data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, email us at privacy@checknorthernlights.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Cookies
We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising. The site may use a session cookie for functional purposes (e.g., language preference) that expires when you close your browser.
Children
This service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
